Hyundai Motor India has unveiled the 2026 Hyundai Bayon, a new compact SUV that will sit between the Venue and the Creta in the company’s lineup. The upcoming model combines distinctive styling, a technology-focused cabin and a petrol engine, as Hyundai looks to strengthen its presence in India’s competitive SUV market.

The Bayon is scheduled to launch in India on October 26, 2026. Bookings have opened with a token amount of Rs 11,000, while prices are expected to be announced at launch.
Bold Exterior Design With Distinctive Styling
The new Hyundai Bayon adopts the brand’s latest design language, featuring sharp body creases, prominent bumper cladding and a more rugged SUV appearance.
At the front, the vehicle gets slim LED daytime running lights connected by a gloss-black strip, while the main LED headlamps are positioned lower on the bumper. A silver skid plate adds to its rugged look.
The side profile features chunky body cladding, black roof rails, sculpted panels and 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, slim LED tail lamps, a roof spoiler and a heavily styled bumper complete the design.
Unlike several modern SUVs, the Bayon does not rely on a full-width connected tail-lamp arrangement, giving it a distinctive appearance.
Cabin Gets Dual 12.3-Inch Screens
The interior is one of the major highlights of the new Bayon. The dashboard features two 12.3-inch displays, one serving as the digital instrument cluster and the other as the touchscreen infotainment system.
The cabin follows a dual-tone black-and-white theme, with vertically oriented air vents, dedicated climate controls and a four-spoke steering wheel.
Key features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger and a premium Bose sound system.
The SUV also features connected-car technology with over-the-air updates, allowing supported software and vehicle functions to be updated remotely.
Generative AI Assistant and Advanced Safety
Hyundai is placing considerable emphasis on technology. The Bayon will feature a generative AI voice assistant based on Perplexity AI, alongside connected navigation technology and more than 70 Hyundai Bluelink connected features.
The system is designed to make voice interactions and access to vehicle information more intuitive.
Expected safety equipment includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, electronic stability control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Final variant-wise equipment will be confirmed closer to launch.
1.5-Litre Petrol Engine With Manual and Automatic Options
At launch, the India-spec Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque.
Buyers will be offered a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The SUV will use a front-wheel-drive layout.
A CNG option is expected to follow at a later stage, although its launch timeline and specifications have not yet been confirmed.
Expected Price and Launch Date
The Hyundai Bayon is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17.5 lakh, ex-showroom, although the final pricing remains unannounced.
Positioned between the Venue and Creta, it will compete in India’s crowded compact and midsize SUV market. Its final pricing, variant lineup and equipment levels will play an important role in determining its appeal.
