Gaana seems to be aggressively capturing the online & mobile music streaming market. Last week they announced launch of an interesting online Karaoke app called SingAlong, and now they have updated their Android App to Version 2.0, which brings in new more intuitive interface along with host of new premium features.

The new Android version of Gaana app has two distinct flavours – Gaana 2.0 and Gaana+. The Gaana 2.0 is basically an upgrade of previous free app and now has new features like multi-bit rate streaming and new interface for “My Zone”. The 2.0 version is also equipped with with better song search and easier ways to make and edit playlists in MyZone, and it lets users choose the quality of playback based on their connection speed.

Gaana+ on the other hand is a premium paid subscription service that lets users download entire playlists on their Android phone, which can later be heard offline, without internet connectivity. Gaana+ also allows users to listen music at highest quality (at 128kbps streaming and 320kbps downloads)

Gaana+ premium service was already launched for Apple iOS earlier this year, and now same has been launched on Android platform.

Being a paid service, Gaana+ does not have any ads. The subscription for Gaana+ will be available for 14 day trial period and after the trial period expires, the subscription will be USD 2.99 per month ( approx. Rs. 170) for Indian users and USD 3.99 per month ( approx. Rs. 225) for users outside India.

What’s missing?

I was really hoping new version of Gaana mobile app to have their awesome SingAlong Karaoke feature recently launched for web users. Even if it was made part of their premium subscription service it would have been great.

Hopefully they will bring it in the future versions on the app.
