Government launches eBiz Portal, a One-Stop-Shop for all Govt. to Business Services

6

Government of India has today announced launch of first phase of eBiz portal, bringing nearly all services offered by Government to businesses and investors through a single online window portal. The eBiz portal has been developed by Infosys under the Public Private Partnership (PPP Model) will offer an interactive tool to assess license and permit requirements to setup and operate a business in India.

The eBiz project aims to create a business and investor friendly ecosystem in India by making all business and investment related regulatory services across Central, State and local governments available on a single portal, thereby obviating the need for an investor or a business to visit multiple offices or a plethora of websites.

Among other things, the portal will allow a single application submitted by a customer, for a number of permissions, clearances, approvals and registrations, will be routed automatically across multiple governmental agencies in a logical manner. Currently, the same is extremely fragmented and the user has to fill in multiple forms at multiple places to avail the services.

The biggest benefit of this eBiz portal is the integrated inbuilt payment gateway offered to users. This universal payment gateway will allow all payments by customers to be collected at one single point and then apportioned, split and routed to the respective heads of account of Central / State / Para-state agencies along with generation of challans and MIS reports.

Infosys will launch additional 21 services by the end of third year  of this 10 year long project. Also, from the fourth year onwards, the eBiz project will see more than 200 services rolled-out across the country.

India ranks lowly 132nd among 185 economies according to World Bank’s Doing Business Report 2013. With launch of eBiz portal, the persistently low rank till date should definitely improve. However, more than that, entrepreneurs will have much more stress-free time fulfilling the statutory requirements when it came to starting a business in India.

Overall a great PPP initiative and the one which is sure to propel entrepreneurship in India.

Note: I spent about an hour trying to find the url of the portal, however, it looks like it is not a separate portal, but will be integrated with the current MCA site itself (atleast that’s what my guess is as none of the PRs talk about separate portal url)

Govt started opening eyes. It takes years to open completely.
    Better late than Never though

And am wondering why the Url is just kept as a keep-on-guessing feature instead of just giving it here! I guess entrepreneurship requires some effort at least ;)

@srila you wont believe the amount of time I spent trying to find the url of this eBiz portal. Checked every Government site, infosys Press Release and media articles in hope that I will find it somewhere, but the url has been stubbornly kept out. And hence, I assume it has been integrated with existing MCA portal… Though, I think it should have a separate site for itself.

Much needed. A friend of mine had registered a business in Singapore and it took all of 48 hours for all the approval from govt agencies. Their website is a breeze. No wonder Singapore tops the polls every year for the best place to do start / run a business. We have a long way to go. Imagine if we clean our house and make things efficient, the economy will simply explode.

Yes, that is true… it takes just 2 days to start a business in Singapore. If we are able to do that even in less than 10 days, it would be a big achievement for us. With the launch of this eBiz portal it is expected that lot of time will come down, however, all will depend on how well the implementation and back end processing happens. If back office takes time, there is nothing that a portal can help!
