This Maruti Car Beats Baleno, Swift, Nexon To Become India’s #1 Car In Overall Sales! (July Data)
When we speak about the top-10 cars, there are 3 names in the list : Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors & Hyundai. Topping the chart is Maruti Suzuki with sales number of 1,42,850 units. Second to it is Hyundai with 50,500 units and Tata Motors with 47,506 units in the month of July.
Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have posted a 6.8 percent and 5.1 percent growth respectively on annualized basis. It is Tata Motors which has posted a massive 57.4 percent.

Tata Punch
With a sale of 11,007, the car has managed to grow by 5 percent from 10,414 units in June 2022. As the car is new one, hence there is no growth number.
Powering the Tata Punch is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol mated to either a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox with an engine that produces 86 hp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque.
According to Tata, the Punch is capable of an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 18.97 km/l for the manual and 18.82 km/l for the automatic variants.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
With a sales of 11,268, S-Presso has performed well, with the sales of the car have grown by 65 percent from 6,818 units in July 2021. But when we look at the numbers in last month, then it was just 652 units, which means that there is a massive 1,628 percent jump.
Plonked with the updated K10C 1-litre engine, the engine produces 66 hp of maximum power and 89 Nm of peak torque.
Hyundai Venue
With a sale of 12,000, Hyundai Venue comes at eighth sport. It saw a jump of 47% yoy as the month of July last year saw a sale of only 8,185 units. MoM increase is 16 percent. It comes with 3 engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol powertrain that produces 83 hp, a 1-litre turbo-petrol that produces 120 hp and a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 100 hp of maximum power.
Hyundai Creta
With 12,625 units in July, the YoY sales has decreased by 3% whereas the MoM sales has decreased by 8%. While Creta remains to be the top seller for Hyundai, when compared to its rival cars, its spot is dropping.
It is available in three engine options: one diesel and two petrol.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 115 hp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque.
The petrol engine has two options: one naturally aspirated 1.5-litre produces 115 hp of power and 143.8 Nm of torque, the 1.4 litre turbo petrol churns out 140 hp of maximum power and 242 Nm of peak torque.
Maruti Suzuki Eeco
With a 13,048 units sale, the car has managed to increase the MoM sales by 28%. As compared to July last year, the YoY increase has been 30%. It is expecting a makeover and currently is powered by a 1.2-litre engine that produces 62 hp of maximum power and 85 Nm of peak torque.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
With 13,747 units sold in July 2022, the YoY increase has been 31% whereas the MoM increase has been 9%. It is the only sedan in the list and is powered by a single 90 hp 1.2 litre petrol engine, mated with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission.
The fuel economy for the manual version is 23.26 km/l whereas for AMT variant it is 24.12 km/l. The car was recently launched with a factory-fitted CNG option starting at Rs 8.14 lakh.
Tata Nexon
With a sales of 14,214 units in July 2022, growth has been not that much MoM basis, however YoY basis it has increased by 38%. This makes it the best-selling SUV in the Indian market.
There are two turbocharged powertrain options, one with 1.2-litre petrol which is capable of producing 120 hp of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque.
Another is 1.5-litre diesel on the other hand produces 110 hp of power and 260 Nm of torque.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
With a sales of 17,539 units, Swift has seen the MoM sales increase of 8% whereas YoY decrease of 5%. It has, since its inception, being a top seller for Maruti Suzuki.
Plonked with a single 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 88.5 hp of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Baleno retains the second spot in the top ten cars with 17,960 units sales. It has seen a YoY increase of 22% and a MoM increase of 11%.
Powered with a single 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 90 hp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, it has a 5-speed manual as standard.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR
Retaining the top position is none other than Maruti Suzuki WagonR, selling 22,588 units it saw a MoM increase by 17 percent. The YoY sales has dropped by 1%.
There are two petrol options : 1-litre petrol produces 67 hp of maximum power while the 1.2-litre produces 90 hp of maximum power.
