Hybrid Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda Cars Are Catching Fire! 100,000 Cars Being Recalled Due To High Risk
German motor vehicle manufacturer Volkswagen will have to recall more than 100,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles globally.
As per a spokesperson of Volkswagen, these plug-in hybrid vehicles will have to be recalled due to the risk of fire.
Volkswagen To Recall 24,400 Vehicles! What’s The Reason?
As per reports, around 42,300 owners of Volkswagen Passats, Golfs, Tiguans, and Arteons across the globe will have to be notified by the company. The Volkswagen brand Audi has had to recall 24,400 vehicles.
Seat and Skoda have also been affected.
As per the spokesperson, there is a risk of fire in these vehicles that connect a conventional combustion engine to an electric drive. These vehicles are also charged through a socket due to an insufficiently insulated high-voltage battery.
The KBA regulator has said, “inadequate fastening of the engine design cover can lead to contact with hot parts and subsequently to fire.”
Reportedly, 16 similar cases have already been reported in Germany.
Volkswagen has reportedly sold 8.9 million units in 2021, which is a 5% decline from 2020 and its lowest sales figures in 10 years.
Hyundai And Kia Recalled 500,000 Vehicles
In February, we reported that Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 500,000 vehicles in the US after discovering a potential fire risk in the engines. They have advised owners of vehicles part of the recall to park outdoors and away from buildings.
They have received 11 reports of fires in the country but no injuries. Kia had earlier issued a recall on February 2 for its 2014-2016 Kia Sportage SUVs and 2016-2018 Kia K900 sedans.
So had Hyundai for its 2016-2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2017-2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2019 Santa Fe XL, and 2014-2015 Tucson SUVs.
There was an electrical problem within the airbag control unit (ACU) which determines whether to deploy airbags in a crash.
Volkswagen Virtus (Unveil)
A new mid-size sedan for the Indian market, called the Virtus shall be unveiled on March 8, 2022 by the worlds largest automaker, Volkswagen. This car shall replace the ageing Vento in the brand’s Indian lineup and will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform.
With either a 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, it will be powered by the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engine options.
