Netflix Triggers Tariff War: Upto 60% Price Cut Announced To Fight Amazon Prime, Hotstar (Check New Plans)
In a swift, and surprising move, world’s biggest video streaming app: Netflix has triggered an OTT price war in India: Upto 60% price cut has been announced for Indian users, on the same very day when Amazon Prime has increased their tariff.

Netflix Cuts Price By Upto 60%
Effective December 14, 2021, Netflix as announced new plans, that are upto 60% cheaper than old plans. With this new price cut, the minimum Netflix plan now starts at Rs 149, which was Rs 199 earlier.

As we can see, the maximum discount has been offered on the basic plan for individual users, that was earlier Rs 499, but now slashed to Rs 199, a direct reduction of 60%.
And the move to reduce the basic mobile plan to Rs 149 range can help Netflix to generate more eyeballs and more subscribers.
Netflix Vs Amazon Prime?
Amazon had earlier announced that their subscription plans for Amazon Prime has been increased, effective December 14th, the day when Netflix decided to reduce their fees.
Amazon Prime will now now 50% more expensive than previous plans, and this can lead more users to Netflix now.
Comparably, Disney+Hotstar charges Rs 1499 for a year, Rs 499 for Disney+Hotstar mobile.
