Indian Oil’s Big Electric Push: 10,000 Charging Stations In 1000 Days Across India!
India’s biggest oil retailer: Indian Oil has announced a major electric-push that will impact and inspire thousands of new electric vehicle buyers.
And empower India to become net-zero by 2070, as promised by PM Modi during COP26 in Glasgow.

Indian Oil Will Launch 10,000 Charging Stations
IndianOil Chairman S M Vaidya has declared that they will launch 10,000 charging stations, across India, in the next 3 years.
10,000 new charging stations in the next 1000 days translates to massive push for electric mobility, thereby inspiring millions of car buyers to go electric.
Indian Oil has more than 32,000 self-owned petrol pumps across India, and as per the plans, they will install charging stations across 10,000 such petrol pumps in the next 3 years.
SM Vaidya said, “Electric Vehicles are now a reality, and IndianOil is geared up to tide over challenges and leverage opportunities in this area. Our bouquet of services will now include alternative energy offerings, including EV charging at our fuel stations”
This move will also assist entire India to reduce carbon footprints, and enable India to become net-zero in emissions by 2070.
Electric Mobility Push In India
Besides Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum too has promised to install and launch 7000 electric car charging stations, across their petrol pumps in India.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) too has plans to deploy 5000 electric charging stations. They already have around 84 EV charging installations.
Where Will Indian Oil Install Electric Charging Stations?
As of now, Indian Oil has 448 EV charging stations.
Now, the expansion will happen in a phased manner: Around 2000 charging stations will be deployed in the 1st phase, in the first year.
To start with, 9 Indian cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Surat and Pune will have around 250 EV charging station, which will be expanded gradually.
As per reports coming in, Indian Oil has already partnered with Tata Power, REIL, Power Grid Corporation, NTPC, Fortum, Hyundai, Tech Mahindra, BHEL and Ola for setting up new electric charging stations.
