The company unveiled the Redmi K40 smartphones for its domestic market earlier this year, and launched the devices in different foreign markets under different names. The company brought in Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro+ in India as Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro, while the upcoming Poco F3 GT in India is going to be a rebranded Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition.
Company’s general manager Lu Weibing posted on Chinese microblogging website Weibo confirming Redmi K50 series development. The company head asked users about what features they would want on the upcoming Redmi K50 phones, the configuration and what else they wish from the Redmi K40 series successors.
According to popular Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K50 phones will see a major overhaul in terms of upgrades and improvements. The devices are said to have improved fast charging, better cameras, better processing for gaming and higher screen quality.
In terms of faster charging technology, the predecessor, Redmi K40 smartphones currently come with 33W fast-charging support on all the devices with charging brick inside the box. The company didn’t offer much in terms of higher charging technology given these are mid-range flagships, while Redmi Note 10 series starting at Rs 12,499 come with the same charging speeds and charging adapter.
Xiaomi does have higher charging bricks available with different phones and they support almost double of what the current Redmi K40 / Mi 11X phones have. The upcoming Redmi K50 series may support the 67W fast charging technology as the top-end Mi 11 Ultra. The Mi flagship supports 67W and 55W fast chargers for China and India markets respectively.
