PM Modi has just launched the 2nd phase of a very popular and widely acclaimed Govt scheme that offers free LPG connection and cylinder for eligible Indians.

And this time, there is no need for any address proof as well.

Free LPG Cylinder Without Any Address Proof

PM Modi has launched the PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0, the second phase of free LPG cylinder scheme.

This was launched at Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh yesterday, where UP CM Yogi offered the first free gas connection on-behalf of PM Modi.

Interestingly, UP goes for legislative elections next year, so this was a pretty timely move.

In this 1st phase of this scheme, more than 1,47,43,862 LPG connections were distributed for free.

As an enhancement to this Govt scheme, there is no need for any address proof for the eligible parties to avail free LPG cylinder: Self-attested address proof is enough.

Who Are Eligible For Free LPG Cylinders?

PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 has been launched only for the economically backward section of the society, especially those who are living in rural areas.

Enrollment for the 2nd phase has already started, and this time, no address proof is needed. Only a self-declaration form stating ‘family declaration’ and as a ‘proof of address’. Earlier, Aadhaar card or ration card was required to get enrolled.

The main objective of this Govt scheme, 1st launched in 2016, is to empower economically backward sections of the society, and provide them with cooking gas for free.

Besides free LPG connection, the 1st refill is absolutely free. 

Under the first phase of this Govt scheme, 3-4 LPG cylinders were provided for free, per year. 

While launching phase 2 of free LPG cylinder offer, PM Modi said, “As we celebrate the 75th year of Independence this year and look at the progress in the past seven-and-a-half decades, we feel that some situations and conditions should have changed decades ago,”
