Reliance Jio has reportedly added 35.5 lakh users in May 2021, and Airtel has lost 43.16 lakh users in the same time period. 

Bharti Airtel has lost 43.16 lakh users, whereas the number for Vodafone Idea is 42.8 lakh users. As per reports, this is the first time that Bharti Airtel has lost subscribers since June 2020. 

Bharti Airtel And Reliance Jio’s War For Subscribers Continues

There is a fiercely close competition between Airtel and Jio, as per the research wing of Domestic credit rating agency Crisil, the active subscriber base of Jio’s share is 33.7 per cent and Airtel’s at 33.6 per cent. 

In May 2021, India’s largest telecom operator Reliance Jio added 35.5 lakh users in May 2021.

As per the tweet, “In the month of May 2021, Bharti Airtel & Vodafone Idea lost subscribers while Reliance Jio added. Bharti Airtel has lost subscribers for the 1st time since June 2020.”

In the recent past, it was reported that over a period of last six months, the telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has constantly been adding new subscribers to its existing base, while a similar trend is not shared by Reliance Jio.

According to the information provided by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Bharti Airtel has reported the highest revenue for Q4FY21.

In Q4FY21, the industry-wide adjusted gross revenue, excluding Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), has increased by 3% quarter on quarter to Rs 361 billion, states a release by India Ratings.

This increase is largely affected by a 13% qoq growth reflected in the revenue of Bharti Airtel, including Tata Teleservices Limited and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited.

Bharti Airtel Announces Price Hike In Postpaid Plans

Recently, Bharti Airtel announced a price hike in its postpaid plans. The price hike introduced by Bharti Airtel is at 50% and in the enterprise segment, which makes up for 60% of the company’s postpaid users. 

For the enterprise customers, the entry-level Rs 199 monthly plan as well as the Rs 249 plan have been discontinued by Bharti Airtel and these plans will now start at Rs. 299.

Whereas, for retail customers, the starting plan will continue to be available at Rs. 399 per month, but the Rs. 749 family plan will be discontinued. The other family plan which is priced at Rs. 999 per month will now become the starting plan. In this plan, the number of sim cards that will be provided has been reduced from four to three.
