50 Lakh Govt Employees Will Not Get Revised DA, DR From July: Govt Clarifies
A fake document regarding claims of resuming dearness allowance for central government employees and dearness allowance for central government pensioners have been doing rounds on social media platforms.
In response to this, the Ministry of Finance has clarified on Saturday that no such order of resuming DA and DR for central government employees and pensioners from July 1 has been issued yet.
The ministry has time and again stated that the pending DA instalments for all the recipients will be restored as and when the decision is taken.
Finance Ministry Informs of Fake News
In March 2020, the Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur announced a hike/revision of 4% in the Dearness Allowance received by central govt employees and pensioners, under the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, which was to come under effect from January 1, 2021.
This means that over 50 lakh central government employees and 61 lakh pensioners will receive a DA hike of 21% from 17%. Currently, the Dearness Allowance is being paid at 17%.
Central government employees have been waiting for their Dearness Allowance for almost a year and a half. The Finance ministry had commented that the three pending DA instalments for all the 1.13 crore recipients will be restored all at once in the revised rates, effective from July 1, 2021.
DA Hike: What Next
The three instalments of DA and Dearness Relief to central government employees and pensioners are due from 1.1.2020, 1.7.2020 and 1.1.2021.
However, a fake document has been uploaded over the internet, which claims that DA and DR for central government employees have been resumed.
The Finance Ministry has confirmed that no such decision has been taken yet and that in case of any confirmation, all the pending recipients will be informed.
“A document is doing rounds on social media claiming resumption of DA to Central government employees & DR to Central government pensioners from July 2021. The OM is fake. No such OM has been issued,” tweeted the ministry.
It also added that as and when the decision is taken to release future installment of DA and DR due from July 1, 2021, by the government, the rates of the same will be restored.
