Hyundai is testing a new mini hatchback which has been codenamed AX1. The testing is currently going on in South Korea. The new car has been seen in a number of spy photographs.

Exterior

It has projector-equipped circular headlights. The AX1 will also feature a split headlamp design similar to the Hyundai Venue.

The grille has triangular elements and sits between both the headlamps. The bonnet is also quite flat and gives a mini SUV appeal.

New alloy wheels and a boxy design will be seen on the side profile. The layout will provide more space for the occupants.

There will be roof rails as well as turn indicators installed on the outside rearview mirrors. The C-pillars serve as mounting points for the rear door handles. As a result, the AX1 has a three-door effect.

There are two circular units in the lower half of the bumper and there are triangular elements on the tailgate.

The AX1 has a distinctive and funky appearance. It appears to be directed at a younger crowd.

 Interior

A touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear parking camera, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, and other features will be available.

The AX1 is projected to be loaded with frills and equipment, just like any other Hyundai.

Engine

It is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine with 83 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque.

Hyundai may also include the 1.1-liter petrol engine .The engine has a power output of 69 horsepower and a torque output of 99 Nm.

Both engines are likely to be available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The AX1 is expected to be released in India by the end of the year.
