This State Gives Rs 1.5 Lakh Discount On Electric Cars; Rs 20,000 Discount On E-Bikes
The Gujarat government revealed its new electric vehicle (EV) policy on Tuesday, which might hasten the adoption of EVs in the state.
The state of Gujarat will pay 870 crore in subsidies for two lakh electric vehicles over the next four years as part of its EV programme.
The Process Of EV Adoption
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has declared that the state will subsidise electric automobiles on a per-kilowatt-hour basis.
The state government of Gujarat’s new EV policy intends to boost demand for battery-powered vehicles by offering incentives to buyers. Developers of EV charging infrastructure will also receive capital incentives.
Details Of The EV Policy
Electric two-wheelers will receive a subsidy of up to ?20,000 and there will be a subsidy of up to ?1.5 lakh on electric cars.
These subsidies will be available over and above the FAME-II subsidies that are provided by the central government.
The EV policy also announced a 25% capital subsidy of up to ?10 lakh for the installation of 250 charging stations across the state.
Rupani hopes that the new EV policy will help at least 1.25 lakh electric two-wheelers, 75,000 e-rickshaws and 25,000 electric cars to roll out on state roads.

The new EV policy in Gujarat was revealed just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared plans to develop Kevadiya into an electric car city during a World Environment Day ceremony.
