Battlegrounds Mobile India ban has been trending on the internet. The rebranded PUBG Mobile India may not launch in India at all. The company renamed the game to Battlegrounds Mobile India, but the current rife of banning the game is based on the similarities between Battlegrounds Mobile India and PUBG Mobile India. Several people have complained Battlegrounds Mobile India is practically the same game, and it’s just being launched only as a re-branded version of PUBG Mobile India.
An RTI was filed by Dr Gaurav Tyagi, an assistant professor at JNU in connection to the upcoming battle royale game in the country.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) responded to the RTI. The IT Ministry responded that the government cannot stop the game from launching in India.
But surprisingly, the response from the IT Ministry says otherwise. It says the ITM has the authority to ban the game once it is launched under the provisions of section 69A of the IT Act, 2000.
The IT ministry said, “Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has no role in granting any permission for entry of PUBG or any company/Mobile app in India.”
Coming to Battlegrounds Mobile India ban, the rules in the Information Technology Act: Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information for Public) Rules – 2009 can let the game be banned before launch. If in any way, the ministry finds Battlegrounds Mobile India is harming the interest of sovereignty and integrity of India, security of state and defence of India etc, Battlegrounds Mobile India ban is very much on cards.
Krafton, the makers are yet to announce any official Battlegrounds Mobile India launch date. Though, it is being expected that PUBG Mobile India launch will happen on June 18.
Battlegrounds Mobile India pre-registrations are still live, you can do it on Play Store for additional benefits and extra rewards.
Previously, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights claimed that games as PUBG Mobile should remain banned in India as they promote violence and adversely affect the mentality of children. Earlier Krafton said that the Indian version of PUBG Mobile will take care of all the necessary formalities and no data will go outside of the country. All the user data will be saved up here in the servers in the country, and everything will be processed from within itself.
