Mahindra Will Launch 12 SUVs Starting At Rs 10 Lakh: Timeline Of Launch, Models, Price
The Indian market shall soon witness launch of various new vehicles by Auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra, according to a recent report.
As a plan to consolidate its position in the existing segments while creating a niche of its own in others, next 5 years shall see as many as 12 new models launched by the automaker. As there is great demand for SUVs, these launches will be focussed on the core SUV segments.
Launches & Systematic Phaseouts:
There is a substantial demand in the mid-size as well as premium spaces in SUV segment, and this space which falls in the category of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh price bracket shall see these launches.
A premium version of XUV500 with bigger dimensions, updated monocoque platform and a more advanced interior in the form of XUV700 (W601) shall be launched around the month of October this year. Its launch shall be followed by the new generation Scorpio, which has already been spotted testing quite a few times as well.
Various Models:
The eXUV300 (rival Neonon EV) and eKUV100 are also set to launch sometime next year.
After the launch of the XUV700, the existing XUV500 will be released. It will make a comeback as a direct rival to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the mid-range segment with five SUV seats. It is probably based on the redesigned version of the SsangYong Tivoli platform and can be lightweight between 4.2-4.4 meters in full length and design functions handled by the newly established M.A.D.E (Mahindra Automotive Design Europe). Construction from the ground up, the project will not cost more than Rs. 1,200 crore is reported. It will also be reported that it will be the first model to be powered by 1.5 liter petrol.
The new gen gen Mahindra XUV500 (S301) will be a brand new model and expects to launch it by about 2024. In addition, Mahindra also works with the SUV spearhead, XUV900 (S620), based on the XUV Aero concept shown at the 2016 Auto Expo. Placed above the XUV700, it can build its own trunk and is said to use the same engine line, consisting of 2.2-liter diesel and 2.0-liter fuel, like the XUV700. The CAPEX given to Mahindra for the next three years is Rs. 12,000 crore (Rs. 9,000 crore SUVs and tractors, Rs. 3,000 crore EVs). Three years ago, Rs. 15,000 crorees were planted to build new mStallion and mHawk petrol engines as well as new infotainment and electronic systems among others.
