Mahindra, one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers has announced that the production of the XUV 500 will be halted after the launch of the new and upcoming XUV 700.

Mahindra To Stop Manufacturing XUV 500 After The Launch Of XUV 700
As we all know, Mahindra has recently announced the name of the upcoming three-row SUV as the ‘XUV700’.
Reports are that Mahindra will be halting the production of the XUV 500 temporarily after the launch of the XUV 700. However, while this is true, the car manufacturer apparently has plans to bring the XUV 500 back by re-introducing it as a five-seat SUV. The reformed car will be positioned between the XUV700 and the XUV300.
The car will be launched into the premium SUV segment, which already consists of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, and the MG Hector.
The car’s styling and features might be based on the XUV 700 whose launch is awaited. The XUV500 was a huge success in India. In fact, the demand for the SUV was so high that Mahindra had to devise a lottery scheme.
Mahindra XUV 700: Specifications And Features
The car will be powered by 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine and a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine, which will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The car also comes with multiple features, such as dual-screen setup, electrically adjustable front seats, a flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof.
Unlike XUV500 which was the first SUV to feature vertical door handles inspired by a cheetah’s paw, XUV 700 will also have the feature.
The XUV 700 will be available between the second and third quarters of 2021. Before Diwali in 2021, the SUV should be available in India. It will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility at Chakan in Maharashtra.
An all-wheel-drive system will also be offered by the company for a few select variants of the car.
