No Integrated 5G Modem For Snapdragon 888 Lite
He said that Snapdragon 888 Lite, unlike the Snapdragon 888 which has an integrated 5G modem, does not have one. He said that the part number of processor is SM8325.
All the older processors of Snapdragon such as Snapdragon 855, Snapdragon 855+, Snapdragon 865, and Snapdragon 865+ had a separate 5G modem. The Snapdragon 888 launched as Qualcomm’s first Snapdragon 800 series with an integrated 5G modem. Now that Qualcomm has moved to launching the integrated modem, it is surprising to see that it is planning to launch a new processor without an integrated modem.
Affordable For Markets Where 5G Not Available Or Widespread
By treading on such path, we can take a guess at it is a move to target the markets where 5G is not yet available or widespread. This makes it possible to provide the offering to such markets at affordable prices and hence more affordable 4G flagship phones can be offered by the manufacturers.
The timing of its launch is not yet announced by Qualcomm. However it is expected that the company launches Snapdragon 775/775G and chances of this new chipset to be unveiled alongside the same is high. Till then we have to wait and watch…
