The brand-new Lava Z1 has been completely designed in India and by Indians. Lava Z1 is an 100 percent indigenous phone developed by the homegrown brand. As Indian brands have started to focus on the India-only manufacturing against Chinese brands, the Lava Z1 is a one-of-its-kind ‘Design in India’ phone.
Lava started the contest last year in a bid to build ‘the next Indian smartphone.’
The new Lava Z1 has been priced at Rs 5,499 from across all the online and offline sales channels. Lava Z1 sale starts on January 26.
Being an entry level device, Lava Z1 comes with an all-plastic body without any fingerprint sensor. The company has claimed that Z1 has a Military Grade-certified body for toughness. Upfront, the budget Lava phone features a 5-inch HD display which, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Under the hood, Lava Z1 packs in a MediaTek Helio A20 processor paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. The whole system is backed by a 5-magnet speaker and 3,100mAh battery.
It doesn’t end at that, Lava Z1 comes with Lava’s My Z, Z-Up services. Lava’s Design in India contest was specifically ‘designed’ to promote the Make in India vision and create an Atmanirbhar Bharat amid the Chinese brands growing rapidly in the country.

Lava Z1 price in India is set at Rs 5,499. Lava Z2 price is set at Rs 6,999 in India, Lava Z4 at Rs 8,999 and Lava Z6 at Rs 9,999. The last three Lava phones will go on sale starting January 11.
Lava Z1 Specs
Lava Z1 specs include a 5-inch display, MediaTek Helio A20 SoC, 5MP cameras both on front, military-grade certification for build quality, 5-magnet speaker, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and 3,100mAh battery. The smartphone have 2GB RAM and 16GB storage onboard.
Lava Z2 Specs
The Lava Z2 features a 6.5-inch HD+ water drop notched display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, powered by MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage. In terms of optics, Lava Z2 has dual cameras: 13MP primary sensor and 2MP secondary sensor ans an 8MP shooter for selfies. The handset is backed by a 5,000mAh battery.
Lava Z4 Specs
Lava Z4 specs include MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, 5,000mAh battery, and 6.5-inch HD+ display, fingerprint sensor and better imaging sensors. The handset has a triple rear camera system with an additional 5MP ultra-wide sensor. The front sensor sports a 16MP snapper instead of 8MP.
Lava Z6 Specs
The top-end Lava Z6 is just a 6GB RAM variant of the Lava Z4. The Lava Z6 sports 13MP triple rear cameras, 16MP selfie shooter, Helio G35 SoC, 64GB storage, 5,000mAh battery, 6.5-inch HD+ display with a water drop notch and a and fingerprint sensor.
