IPL 2020 Can Happen in UAE This Year

UAE can host 2020 edition of IPL, and this changes so many things.

Sharjah is one of the most popular cricketing venues, along with Dubai International Stadium and Al-Jazira Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi can be the venues of the IPL matches.

Dates Of IPL 2020?

As per the speculations, in case IPL 2020 starts in UAE, then the opening match will take place on September 19th.

It can be a 51 days extravaganza, with the final match being played either on November 8th or 10th.

An unnamed BCCI official said, “IPL in all likelihood will start on September 19 (Saturday) and the final will be held on November 8 (Sunday). It is a 51-day window which will suit the franchises as well as the broadcasters and other stakeholders,”

Which Teams Will Participate?

IPL Governing Council will meet next week, and chalk out the final dates and schedules of IPL 2020.

As of now, the existing teams will be gradually informed and taken into confidence about the matches being placed in UAE, because shifting all the matches from India to UAE amidst coronavirus pandemic can post some serious logistical issues.

Why September 19th And Not September 26th?

Earlier, reports had come in that IPL 2020 can start from September 26th.

However, since Indian cricket team is scheduled to travel to Australia later on, they will need a 14-day quarantine period as per the rules.

The source said, “The best part is that 51 days is not at all a curtailed period and there will be much less double headers. We could stick to original five double headers in seven week window,”
