Mumbai-Delhi Expressway Construction In Full Swing
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari recently tweeted a video, wherein he has expressed confidence on the work being done for the construction of this expressway.
It is expected that the construction will be completed by 2023.

Drive From Mumbai To New Delhi In 13 Hours
Once the expressway is completed, the drive time from Mumbai to Delhi can be completed in 13 hours.
As of now, the time taken in around 24 hours. Since it will be an expressway, there will less obstacles, and a fine road which will help the drivers to cover the distance fast.
India’s Longest Expressway
The 1320 kms long expressway between Mumbai and Delhi will be India’s longest expressway.
Around 30 kms are constructed per day, right now.
This massive expressway will have total of 8-lanes, with 4-lanes on each side, and greenfield-alignment route in backward areas which will reduce the travel time by 50%.
How Is Construction Taking Place?
The expressway will pass via Haryana (80 km), Rajasthan (380 km), Madhya Pradesh (370 km), Gujarat (300 km) and Maharashtra (120 km).
Some of the major cities which will be part of this expressway are: Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram, Vadodara, Kota, Ratlam, Alwar.
Overall, Rs 20,000 crore has been saved by the Govt while acquiring land for this expressway.
The final construction will be done in 51 packages.
Proposal For Electric Lane
As per some reports, there is a proposal for creating a dedicated lane for electric cars as well, however, this can be an expensive affair. However, there is lots of additional expense required for the same.
Around Rs 1 lakh crore is the overall expense for the construction of this expressway, and Govt has sought partnership from private players.
