JEE, NEET Exams Postponed To September – 3 Ways It Will Impact Students (Cut-off, Academic Year)
Govt of India finally listened to the students and parents, and have decided to postpone the JEE and NEET Exams to September, which was scheduled to happen in July-end.
However, this will impact the students across India. We will soon share the three ways how this postponing of exams will impact the students.
But before, let’s find out the new dates for exams.
JEE, NEET Exams Postponed
Govt has decided to postpone the exams for JEE and NEET to September.
In a tweet, Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal said,
“Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations,”
The Minister said that the health of all students is the priority now.
New Dates For JEE-NEET Exams
JEE-Main or The Joint Entrance Examination-Main’s new exam dates are September 1 to September 6th.
JEE Advanced exam date is September 27
National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam date is September 13.
Earlier, JEE Main and Advanced were scheduled to happen between July 18th and 23rd, and NEET on July 26th, which have been changed. Normally, JEE and NEET exams happen in April and May.
How Will It Impact The Students?
1: Academic Year
In case the JEE and NEET exams are held in September, then there will be slight change in the academic year schedules.
The Govt is now aiming to wrap up the student counselling for all, by Diwali, that is November 14th. This will mean that the colleges and Universities will be able to kickstart the new academic year by first week of December or November last week.
IITs may ask the new batch to join only by December 1st week, since the joint counseling for IIT and NIT will start by October 7th, and last for a month.
2. Results Of JEE, NEET
The National Testing Agency or NTA will speed up the result declaration princess. Normally, NTA takes a week to announce JEE Main results, and month to announce NEET Exam results.
But now, due to the delay, NTA will declare the results of JEE Main in 5 days, and NEET in 20 days, which will be a new record for NTA.
IITs may declare the results for JEE Advanced by October 5th, and start counseling by October 7th.
3. Cut-Off & Competition
Now, since every student is getting extra time to study and prepare for the exams, we believe that competition will become intense. And more and more students will be able to get higher marks, which will directly increase the cut-off.
We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
