Jackpot! 3,350 Tonne Goldmine Found In Uttar Pradesh; This Is 5-Times India’s Total Gold Reserve

Uttar Pradesh, which is India’s 4th largest state, and the most populous state has often been marked out due to poverty, and slow economy. Despite being the 5th biggest economy, more than 29% of the population lives in poverty.

However, it seems that very soon, the fortune of Uttar Pradesh will transform, because geologists have just discovered a massive goldmine in the state.

This goldmine is 5-times of  India’s total gold reserve!

3350 Tonnes Of Gold Discovered In UP

Geological Survey of India and Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Geology and Mining had started hunting for Gold in UP since last 20 years.

Now, after two decades of searching, geologists have finally struck gold.

Two goldmines has been discovered in Sonbhadra district of UP, which has a total of 3350 tonnes of Gold.

Sonbhadra is a Naxalite-affected area.

This massive gold reserve discovered in UP is 5-times of what entire India has, interms of Gold reserve. As per rough estimations, India has around 626 tonnes of Gold.

Goldmine In UP: Details

Two goldmines have been discovered in the district of Sonbhadra: While one is named Sonpahadi, the other is Hardi.

While 2,700 tonnes of Gold has been confirmed in Sonpahadi, 650 tonne in Hardi field has been found.

This can be the biggest discovery of Gold in India, ever.

KK Rai, who is the Mining Officer of this project has confirmed this development and has said that Govt may put the mines on lease for private companies to mine, and extract Gold.

The Step Forward Now

Govt has established a 7-member team to map the entire gold reserve, and geo-tag them,

As per experts, mining raw Gold in and around Sonbhadra district will be easier, since the reserves have been found near to hillocks, which makes the process easier.

Besides Gold, geologists are also searching for precious minerals such as gold, diamond, platinum, limestone, granite, phosphate, quartz, and China clay.

These discoveries are expected to happen in the Bundelkhand and Vindhyan districts of UP, which have always been known to have these rare minerals.

The discovery of the massive Goldmine will trigger thousands of new jobs, as private companies will make a beeline for having a slice of these gold reserves.
