FASTags Increased Waiting Time At Toll Plazas By 29%; Call This Number To Find Out Your FASTag Balance
FASTag has recently been introduced in India, one of the primary reason behind this is to reduce the waiting line at the many toll booths in India. However, a report has emerged that shows quite the opposite. The waiting time at toll plazas has increased by about 27% from December 2019 to December 2020.
There’s another development in FASTags: a new toll free number has been introduced on which you can call if you want to check the balance in your FASTag account.
Waiting Time At Toll Booths Increases, Despite The Use Of FASTag
The data has been made available to us by the central toll plaza traffic monitoring system, which explains that even though digital toll payments have increased at toll plazas on the national highways by about 60%, the average waiting time at the toll plazas has increased by 29%.
As per the data by the central toll plaza traffic monitoring system, which is currently up and running at about 499 plazas, the average waiting time for a vehicle was 7 minutes and 44 seconds between November 15, 2019, and December 14, 2019. This waiting time has now increased to 9 minutes and 57 seconds between December 15, 2019, and January 14, 2020.
However, the report says that this increase in the waiting time might also be because not everyone has shifted to using the FASTag, and that the data primarily talks about the teething troubles that digital payment methods have brought in.
Toll Free Number Introduced For Citizens To Check Balance In FASTag Account
The Indian Highways Management Company Ltd., which is promoted by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has now launched a new phone service that will help you check your balance in your FASTag account.
The service is called ‘Missed Call Alert Facility.’
If your mobile number is registered with the NHAI Prepaid Wallet, you can check the balance in your account by just giving a missed call at this number: +91-8884333331. The number is toll free and you can avail the service at any desired time.
If you have linked your FASTag to any other prepaid wallet, you will not be eligible for this facility.
If more than one vehicle is linked to the NHAI’s prepaid wallet, the SMS will inform you of the cumulative balance in all accounts. Additionally, if the balance in your account is low, you will receive an SMS notifying you of the same.
