This June edition of the top smartphones under Rs 40,000 has some interesting additions this month. OnePlus 7 has taken the top spot. Poco F1 and OnePlus 6T after the recent price cuts, now will dominate the under-40,000 space.

The under 40,000 segment will soon turn very competitive after the launch of Redmi K20 Pro and Asus Zenfone 6Z. Here’s goes our list of the top 10 smartphones under Rs 40,000 for June 2019 with the best-sellers from Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, Nokia and Asus.

These devices are ranked based on camera performance, gaming experience, multitasking optimisation, display quality and battery performance.

OnePlus 7

The new OnePlus 7 tops our list this month, to be the best smartphone under 40,000 rupees in India. The OnePlus 7 starts at Rs 32,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, making it a solid option at under Rs 40,000 with the best of specs and features.

OnePlus 7 runs on OxygenOS based on Android 9.0 Pie, sporting a 6.41-inch full HD+ Optic AMOLED display in an 19.5:9 aspect ratio, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

OnePlus 7 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with the Adreno 640 GPU and up to 8GB of RAM with a dual rear camera setup featuring a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor as its primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and secondary 5-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture.

OnePlus 7 sports a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor upfront running on a 3,700mAh battery with the same 20W fast charging support.

OnePlus 6T

The last-generation OnePlus smartphone has seen a massive price drop, the steepest ever, making it a worthy buy now. OnePlus 6T is now available at the lowest ever price in India. OnePlus 6T is now selling at Rs 27,999 for the base model at the Amazon Fab Phones Fest with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model.

The top model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is also available at a discounted price at Rs 31,999.

OnePlus 6T comes with the same 6.4-inch display as OnePlus 7, the last generation Snapdragon 845 SoC, in-display fingerprint sensor, and 3,700mAh battery.

Honor View20

Honor View20 is currently available at Rs 37,999, making the Honor device a good option to buy at under Rs 40,000. The smartphone comes with a dual-camera setup at the back including the 48-megapixel primary Sony IMX 586 sensor and a secondary ToF depth sensor. It was the first phone in India to come with an in-display selfie shooter in a punch-hole styled display.

View20 runs on an octa-core Kirin 980 chipset, based on a 7nm process with Dual NPU and GPU Turbo 2.0 technology, coupled with 6GB and 8GB of RAM.

The 6GB RAM base variant comes with 128GB of internal storage, while the 8GB RAM top model comes with 256GB of internal storage. Honor View20 has a 4,000mAh battery supporting 18W fast charging and a 25-megapixel upfront.

Poco F1

After the recent price cut, Poco F1 is now available starting at Rs 17,999 in the country. Poco F1 is the best smartphone you can buy at under 20,000 rupees. Poco F1 comes with a 6.18-inch Full HD+ display offering a resolution of 1080 x 2246 pixels in an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, Poco F1 runs on the previous Qualcomm flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU.

The Xiaomi flagship is backed by 6GB or 8GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage respectively. The memory can be further expanded up to 256GB via an additional microSD card.

In terms of optics, Poco F1 comes with a dual rear camera setup offering a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel secondary camera and a 20-megapixel selfie camera.

Poco F1 sports a USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector with a hybrid dual SIM tray backed by a non-removable Li-Po 4,000 mah battery. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with a special Poco customised MIUI 9.6 skin on top.

Asus Zenfone 5Z

ZenFone 5Z is available in India starting at Rs 24,999 for the 6GB RAM base model with 64GB storage. The key specifications include Snapdragon 845 processor, dual rear camera setup, 3,300mAh battery and a 6.2-inch large Full HD+ notched Super IPS+ display in an 18.7:9 aspect ratio.

ZenFone 5Z comes with a dual rear camera system comprising of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor with am f/1.8 aperture and OIS stop, and a secondary 8-megapixel OmniVision 8856sensor with fixed focus and f/2.2 aperture.

The ZenFone 5Z 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option, on the other hand, is currently available in India at Rs 27,999. Finally, the ZenFone 5Z price for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model is available at Rs 31,999. All the three variants are available at under 40,000 rupees.

Vivo V15 Pro

The Vivo V15 Pro is currently available at Rs 26,990, making it a good option under Rs 40,000. Vivo V15 Pro comes with up to 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, a rising selfie camera of 32-megapixel resolution, and a triple camera setup at the back. The setup includes a 48-megapixel primary camera coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide secondary sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

Vivo V15 Pro comes with a 6.39-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED Ultra FullView Display and include a Snapdragon 675 SoC, paired with 128GB of onboard storage.

The device has a 3,700mAh battery along with a “Dual Engine” fast charging technology. The device also features a fingerprint scanner embedded in the display screen itself.

Samsung Galaxy A70

The smartphone comes with an in-screen fingerprint sensor, the Galaxy A70 boasts a notchless all-screen display with a 91.64% screen-to-body in an 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display. In terms of optics, Samsung A70 features a 32MP main camera, 8MP super wide-angle and a 5MP depth-sensing shooter.

The Galaxy A70 runs on Snapdragon 675 chip with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The system has Android 9 Pie with OneUI skin with a 4,500mAh battery backing it. It also supports 25W Super Fast Charging technology.

Google Pixel 3A

The recently launched Pixel 3a remains a solid camera phones at under 40,000 rupees. Pixel 3A is priced at Rs 39,999, available via Flipkart. Google is offering assured three years of software upgrades with timely monthly security patches, making it the best smartphone under Rs 40,000 in terms of rear camera and software.

Google Pixel 3a run on Android 9 Pie, powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM, Adreno 615 GPU and 64GB of storage.

The Pixel 3A features a 5.6-inch full HD+ display, packing in a 12.2-megapixel dual pixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery supporting 18W wired fast charging technology.

Coming Soon: Redmi K20 Pro

Xiaomi is all set to unveil its first flagship series under Redmi in the country in mid-July alongside the regular Redmi K20. The confusion has been cleared, and Redmi K20 Pro will launch with the same name in India. The smartphone will launch in the country next month starting at around Rs 25,000, making it a solid contender at under 40,000 rupees.

Redmi K20 Pro will come with the latest Qualcomm flagship processor Snapdragon 855, three rear cameras, notch-less display, in-display fingerprint sensor and a pop-up selfie camera.

Redmi K20 Pro will also run on the latest Android Q beta version out of the box, a huge 4,000mAh battery supporting 27W fast charging and special gaming features to offer the best of smartphone gaming experience.

Coming Soon: Asus Zenfone 6Z

Asus recently unveiled its much-awaited flagship a few days back at Spain, the sixth generation Zenfone 6. The much-hyped smartphone from Asus will launch in India next month as Zenfone 6Z after the recent court controversy. It will come with features such as the unique flipping 48MP camera duak camera.

The unique technology has been used to offer a full-screen display in the form of a flippable dual camera module which doubles as a front and rear camera.

Asus Zenfone 6Z runs on the latest Snapdragon 855 with almost stock ZenUI 6 skin based on Android 9 Pie with a 48MP Sony IMX 586 reaf sensor and a massive 5,000mAh battery. Zenfone 6 will launch in India in a few weeks, probably by early July.
