Dish, d2H Challenges Hotstar, Netflix With Their Own OTT App, Watcho; Has Content War Been Triggered?
The world of television has been changed drastically ever since TRAI decided to change the rules of the paid viewing of channels. Every television operator is fighting harder than ever to offer customers attractive content for which, they have tied up with various OTT channels. The latest one to join the league is Dish Tv with a new app, Watcho.

Watcho, Dish TV’s OTT Channel
Dish TV, in spite of being the largest DTH service provider throughout the country, is probably the last to partner up with an OTT channel. However, the operator has finally teamed up with Watcho. The Watcho OTT Mobile App has been launched on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store as well.
It was in November 2018 when Dish TV announced its plans to launch such a platform for its viewers, following in the footsteps of Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV. the app is different from its counterparts, as Watcho plans to stream original content and Live TV channels on its platform.
Through this app, viewers will now be able to enjoy 100 Live TV channels, original web shows & short films and various other regional movies. The content on this app will be free of cost for both the Dish TV and D2h subscribers for the first six months. For viewers who are not customers of Dish TV, the content will be free for the first three months only.
Watcho For Dish TV Users and Non-Users
As of now, the app is available for Apple and Android users and Dish TV subscribers can install the app for free. After the app is installed, you will be asked to log in to the app with your Dish TV/D2h registered mobile number (RMN), or else register with a normal number.
As per reports, if you are logged in with the Dish TV or D2h RMN, the premium content will be available for you to watch for free for the first six months. Once the six months are through, you will have to pay to continue watching.
If you are not a Dish TV user, a pre-activated complimentary subscription package will appear once you log in. The Promo pack is priced at Rs 180 and an additional 20% discount is being offered for now, which brings the price down to Rs. 150, and the pack will last for six months.
