India’s top two e-commerce firms are all set to kickstart their festive seasons early this year, as soon as September. The newly Walmart-owned Flipkart and Amazon India will again lock the horns against each other for another festive season battle.

The period between September to December is considered the most fruitful period for the e-commerce companies in India, considering the back to back festivals and occasions in the country.

With Walmart backing Flipkart, the company wants to stay ahead of Amazon festive sale season in terms of sales and revenue generation. To push in more sales, Flipkart will be investing a whopping $2 billion equity funding it recently received from its parent company to double up the year’s sales.

While Amazon India is leaving no stone unturned as well, and it has also received fresh funds for a successful festive season sale.

Flipkart continues to lead the table, and Amazon is aiming to take the top spot this year. The flagship festive sales will start in the month of September, but the discounts will run for a longer period this year till Diwali. The Flipkart Big Billion Day sale is expected to start on October 9 and continue till October 11. The Amazon Great Indian sale will be scheduled during the same period, though there will be many more festive sales throughout the period.

Some of the biggest brands will be a part of the sale like Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, Nokia, Honor, OnePlus and more.

The discounts are expected to grow up to 80 percent this year, and companies will also launch smartphones via Flipkart or Amazon exclusively during the festive season.
