Nokia 2 Launched: Some Specifications
The Nokia 2 launched today with an affordable price tag and premium build-quality with 6000 series Aluminium. Being a Nokia smartphone, the premium build-quality is expected rather than wished for.
But how does the rest of the phone measure up to current market standards? Let us take a look at the features and specifications of this pocket-sized smartphone with a big heart.
Display
The 5.0 inch, LTPS HD display on the Nokia 2 is covered by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It features a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 294 PPI
Chipset, RAM & Storage
The Nokia 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 212 processor, which is paired with 1GB of RAM. The 8GB internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB with a memory card slot.
Camera
The Nokia 2 features an 8-megapixel primary camera paired with an LED flash. The selfie-shooter is a 5-megapixel Fixed-Focus camera.
Battery
Nokia 2’s highlight feature is its 4,100mAh battery. Nokia is claiming that it will last 2 days on a single charge. These figures seem believable when we take into consideration the small, HD display and frugal processor.
Software
The Nokia 2, like all Nokia’s Android smartphones, runs stock Android. This one runs the Nougat 7.1.1 version out-of-the-box. Nokia has promised the next, Oreo update for the Nokia 2 very soon. Nokia also delivers on its promise of regularly delivering monthly updates to all its smartphones.
Pricing And Availability
Nokia has revealed the price of Nokia 2 at 99 Euros, which is roughly Rs. 7,500/-. The exact price of Nokia 2 will be revealed when it goes on sale in India around mid-November.
Nokia 2: Compared
The Nokia 2 is going to face stiff competition in an already crowded affordable smartphones market. Among these, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A and the Motorola Moto C stand out as worthy competitors to the Nokia 2.

To Conclude…
One thing we are bitterly disappointed with is the pricing of Nokia 2. Given that it has moderate specifications, especially the processor, RAM and storage, it’s price should have been around Rs. 6,000/- or lesser. The Redmi 4A on the other hand, costs Rs. 1500/- less and offers better specifications.
Only time will tell if the Nokia 2 can stand up to the competition, especially the Redmi 4A. Will you buy into the Nokia 2’s brand rather than the Redmi 4A’s performance? Or will you choose better specifications over brand name?
