Xiaomi’s Festive Season Mi Smartphone Sales Shocks Everyone; Declares 5 Lakh Units Sold In 72 Hours
The ongoing festive sales on Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal has proved to be a huge hit with Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi. As per statements issued by them, it seems that they broken even their estimation regarding the sales volume.
Within 72 hours of the festive day sales, Xiaomi has sold 5 lakh or 0.5 million smartphones on various ecommerce portals. This means that every second, 2 Xiaomi handsets were sold online!
No other smartphone maker has claimed such huge success this festive season.
Interestingly, last year during festive season, Xiaomi took 30 days to sell half a million smartphones, which has been done in 72 hours this year.
Manu Jain, Head of Operations of Xiaomi in India said, “Between the five platforms that we are available on we sold two phones every second,”
India is right now Xiaomi’s second biggest market after China, and this news of bumper sales will certainly left their spirits. During the second quarter of 2016, Xiaomi witnessed massive decline in sales volume, as they shipped 38% less smartphones compared to last year as Huawei took #1 rank in China for smartphone sales.
Their valuation has taken a beating as well, as it is now reduced to mere $4 billion, down from $45 billion 20 months ago.
Top Selling Xiaomi Handsets This Year
As per the statement released by Xiaomi, Redmi Note 3 was the hottest selling smartphone this year on Amazon; whereas Redmi 3S and 3S Prime were the top selling smartphones on Flipkart.
In fact, RedMi 3S Prime and Redmi Note 3 were out of stock on Flipkart within 24 hours on Flipkart.
Besides, out of the top 3 smartphones sold on Amazon, 2 belonged to Xiaomi and the hottest selling model was Redmi Note 3. Xiaomi’s 1000 mAh power bank was the #1 model in power bank niche.
Xiaomi has admitted that their flagship model Redmi 3S+, which is the first offline exclusive model, couldn’t make much dent in the overall sales volume.
We had earlier reported that Xiaomi is going for a massive offline push in coming days, as they plan to open 1000 outlets by 2020.
Xiaomi’s Unexpected Sales Volume Surprises All
Flipkart has already informed that they were able to sell 50 lakh units within the first 60 minutes of the festive season; whereas Amazon boasted of a billion hits during the first 14 hours of the festive season sale and they sold 100,000 units within the first 30 minutes of Day 1.
It seems smartphones, especially those from Xiaomi contributed handsomely to these bumper sales figures on leading ecommerce portals.
Jain has informed all loyal Xiaomi fans that they are ramping up their production, as they expect much more sales during the Diwali period. Xiaomi may also offer exclusive deals on their portal.
He said, “From what we know, no other brand has achieved this quality online or offline ever..”
As per Xiaomi, they have been preparing for Dussera-Diwali sales since last 6 months, but the demand and sales volume have taken them by surprise. They are now working with Foxconn to increase production at a faster rate, and provide more smartphones to sell on ecommerce portals.
They sold 5 lakh smartphones. Not 50 lakh. Please remove the extra zero.
50 lakhs is 5 million and not 0.5 million.
