After their unveiling in September last year, Google Chromecast and Chromecast Audio have now been launched in India. Both these dongles are currently available on Google India website and carry a price tag of Rs. 3,399 each.

The latest generation of Chromecast dongles bring in the new circular form factor, a sharp deviation from the traditional rectangular stick design of the first-generation Chromecast.

The support for 5 GHz band allows the Chromecast TV to stream 1080p videos seamlessly. You can also turn your TV into a picture frame by customizing it with Google Photos, Facebook, Flickr, etc. You can also mirror your Android device and any website that you see in your Google Chrome browser.
Chromecast Audio supports lossless high resolution audio so you can listen to your favourite artists and music albums the way they were meant to be heard. With Multi-room you can group various Chromecast Audio devices together and listen to the same music on multiple speakers at the same time. You can also mirror audio from your Android devices and your laptop to your home speakers.
These dongles run on all devices running Android 4.1+, iOS7.0+, Windows 7 and above, Mac OS X 10.7+, and ChromeOS gadgets. Both the dongles also support dual-band Wi-Fi and thus support 5 GHz wireless band for better connectivity.
To justify the not-so-affordable asking price, Google is offering freebies like free 6 month subscription of Saavn Pro, and unlimited download and streaming access on Hooq video streaming services.
It is worth noting that you cannot buy these products directly from Google India website. Instead clicking on the “Buy Now” button will present you with various online and offline stores for buying these dongles.
As of now, you either buy these Chromecast dongles from Flipkart, or Snapdeal, or Paytm, or from physical stores like Reliance Digital and Chroma. It is also expected that these devices would be made available across all other major e-commerce portals in near future.
