Now Refill Your Delhi Metro Card With Paytm Wallet!
DMRC had introduced online recharge option last year, making refills easy and convenient for daily commuters. Until now there were only offline recharge counters are the metro stations, which would not only make the processes slower but also not contribute to the Digital India campaign by the Prime Minister of India.
Paytm, in a push to increase its ever expanding bouquet of wallet payment services, has partnered with the Government to allow online recharge through Paytm digital wallet. It is an effort to reduce long queues at the recharge counters and make travelling convenient for 2.3 Million commuters, as mentioned on its latest blog post.
If you remember, Paytm was already pushing for its own card to be used at the Metro stations in Delhi, however it is still work in progress and Paytm has come up with an intermediate solution to bring respite to Delhi Metro users. Paytm also hopes to encourage people to use the Delhi Metro more as compared to private and commercial vehicles.
Why would someone pay through Paytm wallet?
Now that there is an option of refilling your Delhi Metro card through credit card, debit card, netbanking and Paytm wallet, why would a customer pay using the digital wallet? The best thing about Paytm wallet is the cashback scheme, which currently returns upto Rs 100 using promo code metro100.
This means there is a flat 10% cashback, on top of 10% discount to Delhi Metro Card users for using a card instead of a token. If this does not incentivize you enough, then no one other mode of payment will. Firstly, they are making you bypass all long queues, and secondly they are even discounting your refill, which effectively leaves more money in your wallet.
Paytm has been working on multiple other initiatives for making transactions both online, through cashless transactions at merchants, and offline, through their mobile wallet. 2016 is going to be an exciting year, courtesy technology companies working towards digitizing our life.
