Vodafone 4G Services Launch In Kochi, Expansion To Other Cities Soon
Vodafone India has finally launched its much awaited 4G services in Kochi, Kerala.
The telecom operator has launched its next generation wireless network on 1800 MHz band, which is much more efficient than 2300 MHz band used (or will be used) by many others telcos for launching their 4G services in the country.
You will need to be on a 4G supported mobile phone in order to browse the ultra-fast internet on Vodafone 4G. On this network, the users will be able to stream not just movies but also stream high definition movies, and that too without buffering. Seems too good to be true, isn’t it?
Vodafone’s Initial 4G Launch Offer
Vodafone is offering mouthwatering benefits to those who try its 4G services now. Almost every telecom operator does this to encourage its existing users to switch to a better network while attracting others to join its network. Some of the 4G launch offers by Vodafone are:
- Free upgrade to 4G network by offering 4G SIM for free.
- Immediate 4G SIM exchange, with same day delivery at customer’s doorstep for postpaid connection and instant activation.
- Unlimited movie subscription for 3 months giving users the access to more than 7500 movie titles including 200+ Malayalam movies.
- Free unlimited music streaming for 3 months on Vodafone Music.
- 100% more data (double data) to all 4G RED subscribers for the first 3 months.
Vodafone has also launched a new 4G mobile hotspot dongle that supports Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 10 devices.
Vodafone 4G Data Plans
Except the launch offers, Vodafone hasn’t exactly announced any more details about its latest and fastest wireless network as of now. However, the company has announced just two 4G data plans- A 4G trial pack at Rs. 29 offering 120 MB data, and a bonanza 20 GB pack at Rs. 2,499.
“4G has the potential to revolutionize the mobile experience through powerful innovation that impacts how we work and live. Vodafone’s global expertise and experience of launching 4G across 19 countries gives us a better understanding of this technology and the needs of the 4G customer”, said Sunil Sood, MD & CEO, Vodafone India.
While I was not very excited to know the tariff of Vodafone 4G data packs (I was expecting them to be much more attractive), a quick comparison of the bonanza pack with Airtel 4G pack reveal that Vodafone India is indeed offering its 4G services at a competitive price.
This phase-I of 4G launch by Vodafone will see the rollout of next generation in other main cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata as well.
If you were also expecting 4G data packs to be more affordable than 3G data plans, then you needn’t worry. This is just the beginning. Just wait till Reliance Jio launches its 4G network and disrupts the Indian telecom industry. Fingers crossed.
