Mi Band, Mi TV To Soon Arrive In India, Redmi Note 4G Moving To Open Sale
Xiaomi has made slew of announcements for Indian customers in regards to availability of Mi Band and Mi TV in India. Along with it, they have also announced OS updates for Note 3G and Redmi 1S.
Mi Band Launch
Jaimani, part of Mi India product team, announced in a forum update that Mi Band will be available by late March or early April. According to the update, Mi India is currently testing Mi Band and plan to sell it in India as soon as they complete the update to MIUI 6 for their devices. As far as MIUI 6 OS updates go, they are currently in the process of rolling out Note 4G and Mi 3. Once these updates are over, they will be offering updates to Note 3G and Redmi 1S that will be over by March.
If you are not aware Mi Band is essentially a wrist band that tracks various health related activities. It will monitor daily fitness levels by tracking your walking distance and other physical activities done through the day. It will also calculate and give out amount of calories burned on daily basis.
The Mi Band connects to your smartphone app through Low energy Bluetooth and displays all your fitness data.
While many other companies have launched similar devices, what differentiates Mi Band is it’s cost and long battery life. It is expected to cost less than Rs. 1000 in India and unlike other bands, it gives a humongous 30 day battery life.
Mi TV Launch
Mi TV is also scheduled to launch in India this year. However, unlike Mi Band, they have not announced the exact date. According to the update, Mi is still working on coming up with the Mi Box and Mi TV 2 as well as some newer versions of Mi TV which have not been announced yet.
We think Mi TV should make it’s debut in India somewhere in May or June.
Note 4G Adopts Open Sale, No Registration Required
Another interesting announcement made by Mi India head, Manu Kumar Jain was that Redmi Note 4G will now be available in India in open sale. This means, there will be no flash sale and users interested in purchasing Note 4G will not need to go through any registration process as was the case earlier.
Note 4G has received only a luke-warm response relative to their Mi 3 and Redmi 1S launches. At the same time many other brands have started similar or better spec phones at competitive prices. For eg, Micromax Yu Yureka is a better spec’ed phone and is available for Rs. 1000 less than Note 4G. This seems to have prompted Xiaomi to go for open sale model as success of Flash sale depends on the amount of demand a phone has, which Note 4G lacks!
Here is the Tweet put out by Manu Kumar Jain earlier today.
