Domestic Airfare War Resumes, Air Asia And SpiceJet Announces Huge Discount Offers
As the festive season is about to begin with Dussera next month and then Diwali followed by Christmas and New Year, discount wars for airline seats have started. With the introduction of Air Asia and Tata backed Vistara, the competition is all set to lure flyers from all over the world.
Leading the discount war is SpiceJet, which has recently displaced Jet Airways from #2 to #3 position but is still beaten by IndiGo in terms of overall seat occupancy and revenues generated. However, for the last two months i.e. July and June, SpiceJet has beaten even IndiGo in terms of seat occupancy, and the competition is becoming cut-throat.
Air Asia, another low cost carrier has jumped into the discount war with another exciting offer announced today.
SpiceJet: Rs 1888 All Inclusive Fares
SpiceJet has announced a scheme wherein just for Rs 1888, travelers can get all-inclusive flight tickets between any destinations inside India. The offer is valid on all air tickets booked on or before August 27, 2014 (tomorrow). The travel should be between September 25 and January 15, 2015 (both the dates inclusive).
This discount offer is not valid on group travel and valid only for air tickets booked via online travel portals, Spice Jet’s official website and authorized travel agents. The tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Air Asia: Flight from Rs 600 onwards
Sensing that the Indian aviation market is really price sensitive, and the festive season can bring in unprecedented sales, Air Asia has quickly jumped into the fare ware with an amazing offer: Flights starting from Rs 600 between the destinations where Air Asia currently operates.
The discounts are applicable for all ticket bookings done till August 31, 2014 and the travel dates should fall between October 26, 2014 to October 24, 2015, thereby making the longest stretch of discount ever announced by any airlines.
Some of the destinations where this discount can be used are:
- Bangalore to Chennai and vice versa for Rs 600
- Bangalore to Kochi and vice versa for Rs 600
- Bangalore to Goa and vice versa for Rs 900
- Bangalore to Chandigarh and vice versa: Rs 1900
As of now, Air Asia is operating flights between Bangalore, Goa, Chennai and Kochi sectors, hence the discounts are only applicable in these routes. Starting from September 5th, Air Asia is all set to spread out to Jaipur and Chandigarh sectors as well.
