One of the leading Indian music streaming services, Dhingana has shut down. If you visit Dhingana website you will get this message.
Their have been talks about Dhingana shut-down for past couple of months as new songs were not being updated.
Interestingly, Dhingana has not pulled down their mobile app as yet from play store. We downloaded and installed it. However, the app does not show any songs at present. Also, the app was updated less than 2 months back, so it looks like the decision of closing down was quick and sudden.
Another aspect of Dhingana shutdown is that they have not given any specific reason, other than a 3 line simple message.

Given that Dhingana was a popular service and had over 2 million downloads on their mobile app, they needed to offer some kind of reasoning for the shutdown. But that was not the case…
Online music streaming business is not easy, especially in India. Many biggies including likes of Google have given it a try and failed. Monetization of streaming music, along with heavy music licensing fees means that even though there is demand for such service in the market, it is very difficult to make money out of it. Others like Gaana have recently expanded their offerings to Indie music, so that they increase their offerings without worrying about licensing fees.
