2 Revolutionary Indian Cars To Watch Out At Auto Expo 2014
Between February 7th and 11th, 2014, automobile fans and enthusiasts will stop all their appointments to get bedazzled at World’s 2nd biggest and Asia’s largest Auto Expo to be held in New Delhi.
The expo is being organized at Pragati Maidan and India Expo Mart and is organized jointly by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). We have already shared 9 sizzling cars which will be displayed over there.
Now, get ready to experience two revolutionary cars, which would be unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo:
A) Maruti Celerio: The Clutchless Car
After Swift, this is the first hatchback which Maruti is about to introduce in India. The technical brilliance of Celerio can disrupt the market. Maruti Celerio has been designed to provide auto-gear at incredibly low cost. There would be no clutch pedal, and gears would be auto-changed based on the speed.
The design of the car has been based on the A-Wind concept, which they unveiled at the Thai Auto Show last year. The car has been developed on a completely new platform at an expenditure of Rs 570 crore, powered by the auto-gearbox which can literally disrupt the Indian car market. They have already released the ad campaign which highlights the unique features of the car such as:
- EZ Drive Technology
- 2 DIN Audio System with Bluetooth integration
- Steering mounted controls for audio
- Manual Aircon
- 235 litres boot space
- Dual Tone interior
- Five- map pocket on the co-driver seat back
The car would be available in 6 versions: LXi, VXi, ZXi, LXi Auto Gear Shift, VXi Auto Gear Shift and ZXi Auto Gear Shift.
This new Maruti offering is all set to replace Alto/A-Star series along with Estilo. Brochures of this new car have already been leaked and you can have a look here.
B) Mahindra Reva Formula E: India’s First Electric Sports Car
2014 is the best time for electric cars, globally. Indian Government is very keen to introduce pollution free and economical electric cars in India as well. And now, here comes the catalyst which can spur more growth in this niche industry: India’s first electric sports car!
Formula E prototype which would be unveiled during Auto Expo will also be featured in Formula race which will be held across the globe, covering 10 cities. This car can go to 0 to 100 in 3 seconds.
Mahindra plans to showcase this electric sports car to create more awareness and popularity of electric cars, which can hit a roadblock due to lack of support from the Government. The industry desperately needs subsidies to lower costs and to attract buyers. Along with Formula E sports car, Mahindra Reva will also showcase a new variant of E2O with new and improved charging facility which brings down the time required to charge.
