Timesdeal.com Mobile recharge deal gets 50k orders in a Day [Superhit?]

Mobile recharge deal offered by TimesDeal.com on December 1st seems to have been a big hit with users. According to the numbers released by ToI today, they witnessed over 50,000 deals in a single day. The mobile recharge deal, where users were offered Rs. 100 talk time for half the price (Rs.50) was lapped up in big numbers.

This surely looks like a win-win for everyone involved. Timesdeal.com which has been relatively struggling in face of competition from Snapdeal, DealandYou and other deal sites has managed to have a sudden jump in its user base.

As you can see from the graphic above comparing Snapdeal, Dealsandyou and Timesdeal – The latter has definitely gained not only registered users, but also witnessed a sudden rise in traffic, which now puts it at par with Dealsandyou. Snapdeal though, is still a leader by a far margin.

For TimesDeal.com, it was like buying each registered user for Rs. 50, which according to me, is quite cost effective. Additionally, TimesDeal must have also struck deals with telecom operators for recharges at discounted rates, bringing down the cost of customer acquisition even further.

According to the ToI, more than 250,000 unique visitors reportedly visited timesdeal.com site that day which would have definitely helped in increasing the number of registered members on Timesdeal!

It also helped that Timesdeal concentrated on offering something very basic like “Mobile Recharge” that was useful for over 90% of Indian internet users (I am assuming that), instead of some elite product / service which very few can connect with!

Overall, a very smart strategy employed by Timesdeal, which was also super successful and was full bang for buck!
