WhatsApp is implementing new updates to enhance user privacy. The messaging app, owned by Meta, has recently introduced various features aimed at protecting user data, such as Chat Lock for safeguarding private conversations with a password.
Additionally, it will also be introducing Disappearing Messages that automatically delete after a specified time, screenshot blocking for View Once photos, and tools to maintain online privacy.
Whatsapp To Launch New Privacy-Focused Updates
Building upon these efforts, WhatsApp has now launched two additional privacy-focused updates: Silence Unknown Callers and Privacy Checkup.
Silence Unknown Callers is designed to give users more control over incoming calls and enhance their privacy. This feature automatically screens out spam, scams, and calls from unknown numbers, providing an extra layer of protection. While these calls won’t ring on the user’s phone, they will still be visible in the call list in case they turn out to be important.
To ensure users are well-informed about their privacy options, WhatsApp has introduced Privacy Checkup. This step-by-step guide assists users in navigating through essential privacy settings, empowering them to choose the level of protection that suits their needs.
By accessing the Privacy settings and selecting “Start checkup,” users can review multiple privacy layers that strengthen the security of their calls, messages, and personal information. WhatsApp recognizes the significance of securing private communication, as people require a safe and trustworthy platform for their interactions.
WhatsApp Unveiled Channels For Reliable and Private Means of Receiving Important Updates
Furthermore, WhatsApp recently unveiled Channels as a reliable and private means of receiving important updates from individuals and organizations within the app. In the future, Channels will be available in a dedicated tab called Updates, alongside the Status feature.
Serving as one-way broadcast channels, admins can utilize Channels to share text, photos, videos, and polls with their followers. Admins will have control over who can follow their channel and whether it should be discoverable in the directory.
To facilitate users’ search for relevant content, WhatsApp will introduce a searchable directory within Channels, allowing users to discover channels aligned with their interests, hobbies, and informational needs. WhatsApp aims to establish the most private broadcast service by prioritizing the protection of personal information for both admins and followers.
Through these updates and features, WhatsApp continues to prioritize user privacy and provide a secure environment for communication.
