Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly in the process of developing several new features for Android users, including the ability to have broadcast channel conversations.
These features are currently being worked on and are expected to be made available to beta testers in a future update of the app.
Whatsapp To Introduce Several New Features For Users
According to WABetaInfo, a popular source for WhatsApp-related news, the company is actively working on implementing various channel features to ensure the best possible user experience once the channels are launched. These features include a full-width messaging interface within conversations, verification status, follower count, a mute notification button, handles, real follower count, shortcuts, channel descriptions, mute notification toggles, visibility status, privacy settings, and reporting capabilities.
The addition of these features demonstrates WhatsApp’s commitment to providing its users with a diverse range of functionalities to explore and utilize, while also making it easier for them to manage their channels effectively.
In addition to the broadcast channel conversation feature, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a feature called “admin review” specifically for Android users. This feature will empower group admins with tools to better moderate their groups.
With this feature enabled, group members will have the ability to report specific messages to the group admin. If an admin finds a reported message to be inappropriate or in violation of the group’s rules, they can choose to delete it for everyone in the group.
Whatsapp’s Multi-Device Support
WhatsApp consistently works on introducing new features to enhance the overall user experience and provide greater security and privacy. Recently, the messaging platform introduced multi-device support, enabling users to link their account to multiple devices simultaneously.
This new feature allows users to link another phone as one of up to four additional devices, similar to how WhatsApp can be linked with web browsers, tablets, and desktops. Whether using an iPhone or an Android phone, each linked phone connects to WhatsApp independently, ensuring that personal messages, media, and calls remain end-to-end encrypted.
These ongoing efforts by WhatsApp to introduce new features and enhance user experience demonstrate their dedication to providing a secure and user-friendly messaging platform. With the introduction of features like broadcast channel conversations, admin review, and multi-device support, WhatsApp continues to evolve and cater to the diverse needs of its user base.
