Currently, the instant messaging giant WhatsApp is working on a new feature called — ‘Chat Transfer’.
“Chat Transfer” Feature Allows Chat History Transfer by Scanning QR Code
This feature shall help users to transfer their data from one Android device to another using a local network.
Since the feature is currently in developing stage, it will be in the future update of the app that this new feature will be brought, says WABetaInfo.
Founded in January 15, 2016 on Twitter, WABetaInfo (also called WBI) announced news about WhatsApp, their updates and new features.
As time passes, WABetaInfo has gained reliability: its name is all over the Internet and he started to fight against fake news around WhatsApp.
Coming back to the feature, then due to this feature, one will be able to transfer chat history to a new device by scanning the QR code.
The report also said that the feature will eliminate the need for Google Drive, so users will no longer have to back up their chat data to the cloud service if they want to transfer the chats from one device to another.
Proxy Support for People across the World
On the other hands, there is one more issue which the messaging giant intends to solve. There are countries like Iran and others, where millions of people are denied the transfer chat history to a new device by scanning the QR code and hence the company has launched a proxy support for users all over the world.
Choosing a proxy will enable them to connect to WhatsApp through servers set up by volunteers and organisations around the world dedicated to helping people communicate freely.
Will Cathcart, Head of WhatsApp said that “We are making it easier for anyone to connect to WhatsApp using a proxy. So when a connection to WhatsApp is blocked, people have the power to restore access”.
