The long-awaited edit message feature has finally debuted by WhatsApp for its users. Allowing the users to edit their messages, unlike before, the feature has been rolled out by the instant messaging giant to the select few users.
“Edit” Message Functionality
As per the WABetaInfo, a main independent portal where you can discover news and real-time updates about WhatsApp, the chat app is now rolling out the Edit message feature but there’s a catch.
However, it is only select set of users who shall get hands on this much-awaited feature. As per the reports, the features shall only be available for beta testers on WhatsApp Web.
As per the website, the feature shows up under the menu options for a text message and was spotted in the Android 2.23.10.10 update for WhatsApp beta version.
The report said that “When you select this option, you will be prompted to edit the message within a new window. In case the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, you have up to 15 minutes to edit your messages in your chats and groups, and it is possible to edit messages multiple times”.
Time Limit of 15 Minutes to Edit the Message
In the light of maintaining the authenticity of the conversation, WaBetaInfo says that the time limit of 15 minutes has been set. Through this feature, WhatsApp only intends to fix just the typing errors. The edit message feature is a highly anticipated addition to WhatsApp expected to bring much-needed relief to users who often find themselves sending messages with errors or typos followed by an apology message for the error.
Users who can edit their sent messages on WhatsApp will have the advantage of correcting errors and misunderstandings without the need to apologize or start a new conversation. This will help to save time and effort and also enhance communication while reducing the risk of misinterpretation. Additionally, the feature will be useful for those who mistakenly send a message to the wrong person or group as they can correct it quickly and easily. However, it’s important to note that there is also a ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature available for users to delete their message entirely.
