BSNL is gearing up for its 4G and 5G service launch, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) playing a pivotal role in ensuring the rollout happens on time. While earlier reports suggested potential delays in BSNL’s 4G launch, TCS has firmly dismissed these claims, stating that the rollout will proceed as planned, according to a report by Navbharat Times.
Tata Responds to Jio’s Claims
In response to Jio’s claims that BSNL’s customers would eventually return to Jio due to the lack of 4G and 5G services, TCS has provided clarity. According to a report by The Economic Times, Jio had stated that BSNL users who switched over due to rate hikes would have no choice but to return to Jio once they realize BSNL lacks 4G services. However, TCS has refuted these claims, emphasizing that BSNL’s 4G and 5G rollouts are progressing smoothly and there are no delays.
This response from TCS helps counter negative perceptions of BSNL’s capabilities. A false narrative suggesting delays in BSNL’s rollout could potentially drive customers back to private telecom providers, including Jio.
BSNL’s Indigenous 4G and 5G Infrastructure
TCS is collaborating with Indian and international telecom companies to ensure a seamless and timely launch of BSNL’s services. The Indian government has announced that BSNL’s 4G and 5G networks will be fully indigenous. To make this happen, TCS is working closely with Tejas Networks to develop BSNL’s telecom infrastructure.
Timeline for BSNL’s 4G and 5G Services
The Indian government has set March 2025 as the deadline for the nationwide rollout of BSNL’s 4G services, with approximately 100,000 towers expected to be installed by then. This rollout will enable BSNL to better compete with private players like Jio and Airtel.
BSNL also plans to introduce 5G services within five to six months of the 4G launch. Importantly, BSNL will not need to install separate towers for 5G, as the new service will run on the existing 4G infrastructure. The Indian government has allocated a substantial budget to expedite BSNL’s 4G and 5G service deployments, ensuring the state-run telecom provider can keep pace with its competitors.
