Swiggy has announced a major leadership change at its quick commerce business Instamart, with CEO Amitesh Kumar Jha stepping down with immediate effect. The company has appointed Nandita Sinha, former CEO of Myntra, as the new Chief Executive Officer of Instamart. She will officially assume the role on August 3, 2026.

The leadership transition comes at a crucial time as competition in India’s quick commerce market intensifies, with companies racing to expand their presence, improve delivery speeds and strengthen profitability.

Leadership Change Ahead Of Quarterly Results

Jha’s resignation comes just days before Swiggy is scheduled to announce its quarterly financial results.

He joined Instamart in September 2024 after spending nearly 14 years at Flipkart, where he held several senior leadership positions. During his tenure, he played a key role in expanding Instamart’s operations, improving contribution margins and launching initiatives aimed at differentiating the platform in the highly competitive quick commerce sector.

Swiggy stated that Jha resigned to pursue opportunities outside the company.

Nandita Sinha Brings Two Decades Of Experience

Taking over the role is Nandita Sinha, one of India’s most experienced consumer internet executives.

Before joining Swiggy, she served as the CEO of Myntra, helping the fashion e-commerce platform strengthen its market position and achieve sustained growth. Over a career spanning more than 20 years, she has also held leadership roles at Flipkart, Britannia Industries and Hindustan Unilever.

Swiggy believes her expertise in digital commerce, consumer businesses and operational execution will help guide Instamart through its next phase of expansion.

Competition In Quick Commerce Intensifies

The leadership reshuffle comes as India’s quick commerce industry enters one of its most competitive phases.

Instamart is competing aggressively with rivals such as Blinkit, Zepto, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon, all of which are rapidly expanding their dark store networks, increasing product selections and improving delivery times to capture market share.

The Indian quick commerce market is currently estimated to be worth around $11.5 billion, making it one of the fastest-growing segments in the country’s retail industry.

Recent Leadership Changes At Swiggy

Jha’s departure is part of a broader series of leadership changes within Swiggy.

Earlier this year, several senior executives, including Chief Operating Officer Ankit Jain and Chief Business Officer Hari Kumar, also exited the company, leading to a wider organisational reshuffle as Swiggy prepares for its next phase of growth.

The company is simultaneously working to improve operational efficiency and strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving quick commerce market.

Focus Shifts To Growth And Profitability

With Nandita Sinha taking charge, industry observers will closely watch how Instamart balances rapid expansion with improving profitability. Her experience in building consumer-focused digital businesses is expected to play a key role as Swiggy competes against well-funded rivals and seeks to accelerate growth in one of India’s fastest-growing online retail segments.

Summary

Swiggy Instamart CEO Amitesh Kumar Jha has resigned with immediate effect, and former Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha will take over from August 3, 2026. The leadership change comes as competition intensifies in India’s $11.5 billion quick commerce market, with Instamart looking to strengthen growth, improve profitability and compete more aggressively against Blinkit, Zepto, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon.
