Travel between Pune and Bengaluru is set to become significantly faster with the introduction of the new Vande Bharat sleeper train. The proposed service is expected to cut travel time to around 13 hours, offering a major improvement over existing train journeys that typically take 20–21 hours.

Pune To Bengaluru In 13 Hours With New Vande Bharat Sleeper Train

Faster Than Conventional Trains

Currently, trains like the Udyan Express take over 21 hours to cover the Pune–Bengaluru route. Even the fastest options take around 15 hours.
The new Vande Bharat sleeper is designed to drastically reduce this duration, bringing rail travel closer to the time taken by road journeys while offering far greater comfort and reliability.

Part of a Bigger Rail Upgrade Plan

The Pune–Bengaluru connectivity boost is part of a larger plan by Indian Railways to roll out Vande Bharat sleeper trains on long-distance routes ranging between 1,000–1,500 km.
These trains are expected to redefine overnight travel by combining speed, efficiency, and modern amenities—making them a strong alternative to flights and buses.

Premium Features for Overnight Travel

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are designed specifically for long journeys, featuring modern sleeping berths, improved suspension systems, automatic doors, and enhanced safety features. These trains are expected to operate at higher speeds compared to conventional mail and express trains, ensuring both comfort and time savings.

Likely Route and Connectivity Impact

The proposed service is expected to run on the Mumbai–Bengaluru corridor via Pune and Solapur, making Pune a key stop on this high-speed route.
This will not only benefit passengers travelling between Pune and Bengaluru but also improve connectivity across Maharashtra and Karnataka, boosting business travel and regional mobility.

A Game-Changer for Frequent Travelers

For professionals, students, and business travelers frequently commuting between Pune and Bengaluru, this development could be a game-changer. The reduced travel time, combined with overnight sleeper सुविधा, allows passengers to travel comfortably and reach their destination ready for the day—without losing productivity.

What Lies Ahead

While the project has received approval, details such as final schedules, fares, and launch timelines are yet to be officially announced. However, once operational, the Vande Bharat sleeper could redefine rail travel standards in India, setting a benchmark for speed and comfort.
