A major controversy has erupted in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT hub after an IT company allegedly shut down its operations without warning, leaving more than 700 employees, interns, and fresh graduates without jobs. What Happened?
According to reports, the company, identified as Think Technology India, was operating from the Gera’s Imperium Rise building in Hinjawadi Phase 2. Employees allege that the company abruptly ceased operations after months of salary delays and failed promises from management.
Several affected workers claim the company had aggressively recruited freshers, interns, and IT professionals during 2025. Initially, interns reportedly received regular monthly stipends of around ₹15,000, creating confidence among employees about the company’s stability and growth prospects.
However, the situation reportedly deteriorated in early 2026 when salary payments began getting delayed.
Employees Allege Unpaid Salaries And Bounced Cheques
According to employee accounts, salaries due from February 2026 onwards were repeatedly delayed. Workers claim that management cited internal audits and financial reviews as reasons for the delays and assured employees that pending payments would soon be cleared.
When salaries failed to arrive, some employees were allegedly issued cheques that later bounced upon deposit. Soon after, workers reportedly discovered that the company office had been shut, leaving hundreds of employees uncertain about their future.
Many affected professionals now claim they are struggling to pay rent, EMIs, and other living expenses because of unpaid dues.
Security Deposit Allegations Add To Concerns
The matter became more serious after allegations emerged that employees were asked to deposit ₹15,000 as a security amount for laptops and company equipment. Workers claim that these deposits have not been returned.
The Forum of IT Employees (FITE) has reportedly taken up the issue and submitted complaints to the police and labour authorities. FITE leaders have described the incident as a serious case of exploitation and have called for stronger safeguards to protect young professionals entering the IT workforce.

The incident highlights a growing concern within India’s startup and IT ecosystem. While large technology firms generally follow strict compliance standards, smaller companies and emerging startups often operate with limited oversight.
