Rail passengers travelling from Pune during the upcoming festive season will get additional options, with the Pune railway division announcing 216 special train trips for Diwali and Chhath Puja.
The special services will operate during October and November 2026, connecting Pune, Hadapsar and nearby stations with destinations across Maharashtra and other states.
Seven Special Train Services Planned
The Pune division has planned seven special train services that will collectively make 216 trips during the festive period.
The additional trains are intended to handle the sharp increase in passenger demand around Diwali and Chhath, when regular trains on popular routes frequently experience heavy bookings and long waiting lists.
Services will cover destinations including Nagpur, Amravati, Danapur, Gorakhpur, Kolhapur and Kalaburagi.
Hadapsar-Nagpur Special For Pune Passengers
A special service between Hadapsar and Nagpur will provide additional connectivity for passengers travelling between Pune and Vidarbha.
Train No. 01209 will leave Nagpur at 7:40 pm every Saturday between October 10 and November 21 and reach Hadapsar at 11:05 am the following day.
In the opposite direction, Train No. 01210 will depart Hadapsar at 4:05 pm every Sunday from October 11 to November 22 and arrive in Nagpur at 6:30 am the following morning.
The pair will make 14 trips.
Pune-Amravati Service Also Announced
Passengers travelling towards Amravati will also get additional services during the festival season.
The special trains are expected to help accommodate increased travel demand between western Maharashtra and the Vidarbha region.
Pune’s festive train network will also include services towards Danapur and Gorakhpur, two important routes for passengers travelling to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during Diwali and Chhath.
CSMT-Kolhapur Special Will Stop At Pune
A weekly special between Mumbai CSMT and Kolhapur will make 12 trips between October 15 and November 19.
The train will serve Pune along with stations including Lonavla, Jejuri, Satara, Karad, Sangli, Miraj and Hatkanangale.
Another major service will operate between Kolhapur and Kalaburagi. This train will run daily except Fridays between October 10 and November 15, completing 64 trips.
It will serve stations including Miraj, Pandharpur, Kurduwadi and Solapur.
Bookings Have Started
Reservations for the announced festival special trains have started in phases.
Passengers can book reserved tickets through railway reservation facilities and online booking platforms. Travellers are advised to check individual train schedules, stoppages and availability before finalising their journeys.
The Pune services form part of a much larger festive-season operation by Central Railway, which has announced hundreds of additional trips to manage demand during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath.
