Gautam Budh Nagar, which includes Noida and Greater Noida, is set for another major infrastructure boost as the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has proposed road strengthening and widening projects worth over ₹256 crore for the 2026-27 financial year.

Noida Roads To Get Rs 256 Crore Boost By UP Govt

The ambitious proposal aims to improve connectivity, reduce congestion, strengthen road safety, and support the rapidly growing urban and industrial ecosystem in the region.

Officials said the projects include widening and strengthening nearly 79 km of roads, along with construction of rural roads and minor bridges across different parts of the district.

The proposal comes at a time when Noida and Greater Noida are witnessing explosive growth in residential projects, industrial parks, data centers, logistics hubs, and expressway-driven development.

What The ₹256 Crore Plan Includes

According to officials, the proposed infrastructure package focuses on multiple categories of road development and connectivity upgrades.

Project CategoryProposed WorkEstimated Cost
Road Widening & StrengtheningNearly 78.77 km₹256.15 crore
Rural Roads Under CMGSYAround 62.2 km₹46.45 crore
Minor Bridge Construction124-metre bridge works₹11.21 crore
Road Safety Improvements3.15 km stretch₹1.15 crore

The projects are expected to improve both urban mobility and rural connectivity across the district.

Why Gautam Budh Nagar Needs Massive Road Expansion

Gautam Budh Nagar has become one of India’s fastest-growing infrastructure and real estate zones.

The district now hosts:

  • Noida-Greater Noida Expressway corridor
  • Jewar International Airport influence zone
  • Multiple IT parks and industrial hubs
  • Rapid metro expansion
  • Warehousing and logistics clusters
  • Data center investments
  • New residential townships

As population and commercial activity continue increasing rapidly, road infrastructure pressure has also intensified significantly.

Traffic congestion, heavy freight movement, urban expansion, and rising vehicle ownership are now creating major transportation challenges across several corridors.

Experts believe continuous road expansion has become essential for sustaining economic growth in the NCR region.

Yogi Government Pushing Aggressive Infra Expansion

The latest proposal also reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s larger infrastructure strategy under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

UP has already allocated massive budgets for:

  • Expressways
  • Ring roads
  • Metro systems
  • Industrial corridors
  • Rural connectivity
  • Logistics infrastructure
  • Smart city development

The state government recently proposed over ₹34,000 crore for roads and bridge infrastructure in the broader UP Budget 2026 framework.

Officials say improved connectivity is critical for attracting investment, reducing travel time, and strengthening regional economic activity.

Rural Connectivity Also A Major Focus

Apart from urban roads, the proposal also includes over 62 km of rural road development under the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana.

Experts say rural connectivity remains crucial because villages around Greater Noida and Jewar are rapidly integrating into industrial and urban development zones.

Improved roads could benefit:

  • Local businesses
  • Agricultural transport
  • Daily commuters
  • Construction logistics
  • Real estate growth
  • Industrial workforce movement

Many villages near the upcoming Noida International Airport are already witnessing sharp land value appreciation due to expanding infrastructure networks.

Road Safety Measures Included Too

Interestingly, the plan does not focus only on widening roads.

Authorities have also proposed dedicated road safety improvements across selected stretches.

The inclusion of safety-focused infrastructure reflects growing concerns around accidents, speeding, and heavy vehicle movement in fast-developing urban corridors.

Officials have reportedly been directed to maintain strict quality standards and complete projects within defined timelines.

Noida Region Becoming India’s Biggest Infra Growth Zone

Infrastructure experts increasingly view the Noida-Greater Noida belt as one of India’s most aggressively expanding urban regions.

With projects like:

  • Noida International Airport
  • Delhi-Meerut RRTS integration
  • Film City proposals
  • Semiconductor and electronics investments
  • Data center parks
  • Expressway networks

the region is rapidly transforming into a major economic and logistics hub.

The new ₹256 crore road upgrade proposal could further accelerate that transformation by improving internal mobility and supporting long-term urban expansion.
