There is a major rule change for the driving license which comes into effect from June 1, as per the notification from the government.
Changes For Getting A Driving License
It appears that the Indian government has changed the rules for getting a driving license.
Under this change, now individuals do not need to give a driving test in the Government Regional Transport Office (RTO) for getting their license.
Instead of that now they have authorized the private institutions to conduct tests and issue certificates.
Please note here that this new rule will be effective from June 1, 2024, as per the notification which has been issued by the government.
What Are The News Rules For Getting Driving License?
As per these new rules, the private driving training centers should have at least 1 acre of land to accomplish a private driving training center.
If the center is going for 4 wheeler motors, then an additional 2 acres of land will be required.
Besides this, the private driving training center should also have access to appropriate testing facilities.
When it comes to the trainers, they must have at least a high school diploma.
They also need to have at least 5 years of driving experience.
Trainers should know the fundamentals of biometrics and information technology systems.
When it comes to the training period, the light vehicle training must be completed over 4 weeks (minimum 29 hours).
Which further needs to be divided into at least two sections including theory and practical.
Out of that, the theory section should be 8 hours. Similarly, the practical should be of 21 hours.
In the case of heavy motor vehicles, they require 38 hours of training, which will include 8 hours of theory education and 31 hours of practical preparation and the training will be completed within 6 weeks.
The change in these rules is to ensure that private driving training centers maintain high standards for drivers of both light and heavy vehicles.
What About The Fees?
Besides all these details, the government has also decided the fees for all these services and it is mentioned below.
- The learner license fee is Rs 200.
- The learner license Renewal will be done for Rs 200.
- The international license fee is Rs 1000.
- The permanent license fee is Rs 200.
How To Apply For Driving License?
- Firstly go to the portal (https://parivahan.gov.in).
- There select the Driving License Apply option on the homepage and select it.
- An application form will open which you can print if needed.
- Here, just fill all the necessary information correctly in the application form.
- Next upload the documents mentioned in the form.
- Now fill again as per the given instructions.
- Once you complete the application process, visit the RTO to submit the required documents and provide proof of your driving skills.The process is done.
A diving license will be issued after successful completion of the process.
