The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced two major digital features on the RajmargYatra Mobile App—the Digital Local Pass and the MargMitra Help Centre—to make highway travel faster, smarter and more convenient. The new services eliminate paperwork, reduce the need to visit toll plazas and provide commuters with real-time digital assistance, in line with the government’s Digital India and Ease of Living initiatives.

The move is expected to significantly improve the travel experience for millions of National Highway users across the country.
Buy Local Toll Passes Online
For the first time, eligible commuters can now purchase a Local Toll Pass digitally through the RajmargYatra app without visiting a toll plaza.
The facility has been launched initially at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Delhi’s Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and will be expanded to other toll plazas across India in the coming months.
Residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of an eligible toll plaza can purchase a monthly local pass digitally, allowing unlimited travel through the respective toll plaza during the validity period.
No More Manual Documentation
Earlier, commuters had to physically visit toll plazas and submit documents to prove their eligibility for a local pass. Under the new system, the entire process can now be completed digitally within minutes.
The platform integrates with DigiLocker and VAHAN using a consent-based framework to automatically verify the commuter’s address, vehicle registration details and linked FASTag, making the approval process faster and more secure.
MargMitra Offers Real-Time Assistance
NHAI has also launched MargMitra, an intelligent digital help centre integrated into the RajmargYatra app.
The service enables users to track complaints in real time, file appeals if they are dissatisfied with resolutions, check FASTag blacklisting status, view pending e-notices and report road safety issues such as stalled vehicles, accidents or encroachments on National Highways.
The feature aims to provide a single digital platform for addressing commuter concerns efficiently.
80 Lakh Annual Passes Already Sold
The latest additions build on the growing success of the RajmargYatra platform. According to NHAI, more than 80 lakh Annual Passes have already been sold through the mobile application with real-time activation.
The authority expects the new digital services to further increase adoption of the app while reducing congestion and paperwork at toll plazas.
Towards Smarter Highway Travel
NHAI continues to expand digital services to improve transparency, efficiency and user convenience across India’s National Highway network. By integrating digital verification, online pass issuance and intelligent customer support into a single platform, the RajmargYatra app is expected to make highway travel safer, faster and more seamless for commuters.
Summary
NHAI has launched Digital Local Passes and the MargMitra Help Centre on the RajmargYatra app, allowing eligible commuters to buy monthly toll passes online and access real-time highway assistance. The service begins at Delhi’s Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza and will expand nationwide, building on the app’s success of selling over 80 lakh Annual Passes digitally.
