No more waiting at toll plazas! New FASTag rule soon: What is it? How will it stop delays?

New FASTag Rules Will Ensure Superfast Toll Payments, No Delays

1)No lines at toll booths soon

That something is faced throughout India at hundreds of toll plazas. Very soon, passengers who travel on the highway may not have to wait for long time at toll booths. The technical problems in reading FASTag-enabled vehicles have become inconvenience and resulted in long queues. Even though toll has become cashless.

2) FASTag transactions made inconvenience-free

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has ordered a modification in the deployment of devices, In a major change of the system. The Times of India reported that the IT system and hardware at toll plazas that process transactions on FASTag will now have to obey by a number of rules in order to ease the pressure on passengers.

3) Only experienced players

The Ministry of Electronics and IT’s Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification directorate will now choose only experienced players, and they will be required to buy equipment from manufacturers approved by the highways authority

4)New features mandatory

The STQC certification will be necessary for all equipment. This includes the RFID reader along with the antenna, automated number plate scanner, toll lane     controller, and toll plaza server. According to the guidelines published by IHMCL, the NHAI members in charge of toll management.

5)Work or get suspended

The TOI reported as per the latest guidelines, system integrators are essential to give an undertaking to IHMCL that if any difference is found at a toll plaza assigned to them regarding the equipment. The authority will have the right to hang the empanelment and fine the bank guarantee immediately.

6) Two-pronged approach

The official was quoted as saying by TOI. We are taking a two-pronged approach to address problems people face due to technical reasons. First, people with experience can only get enrolled and the equipment has to be certified by the most credible government agency. We are also going to deploy engineers at the regional offices of NHAI for better monitoring and resolution of issues.

7)Why is NHAI doing this?

To reduce struggle for commuters travelling on highways is the focus of NHAI’s. Even though the passengers FASTags have sufficient balance due to technical glitches and worthless hardware systems that don’t read tags. At Present, passengers have to face difficulties at toll plazas.
