Suzuki has released the first teaser of the facelifted XL7 ahead of its official debut at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 on July 29. The upcoming update is expected to bring significant design, technology, and feature enhancements, making it the most comprehensive refresh the XL7 has received since its launch. More importantly for Indian buyers, the new XL7 could offer a glimpse of what to expect from the next-generation Maruti Suzuki XL6.

The XL7 and XL6 share the same platform and mechanical underpinnings, which means upgrades introduced in the Indonesian model often find their way to the Indian-market XL6.
New Design Expected for the XL7
The teaser image suggests that Suzuki has redesigned the front fascia of the XL7. Industry reports indicate that the MPV could receive a larger grille, revised bumper design, updated LED lighting elements, and new alloy wheel designs.
While Suzuki has not revealed the complete vehicle, the teaser points toward a more premium and modern appearance aimed at helping the XL7 compete with newer rivals in the three-row family vehicle segment.
Feature List Set for Major Upgrade
The biggest changes are expected inside the cabin. Reports suggest the facelifted XL7 could gain several premium features that are currently missing from the model.
Expected additions include:
- 360-degree camera
- Head-up display (HUD)
- Fully digital instrument cluster
- Ventilated front seats
- Enhanced infotainment system
- Additional safety and convenience technologies
These upgrades would significantly improve the vehicle’s appeal and bring it closer to feature-rich rivals in the MPV segment.
What About the Engine?
Mechanically, the XL7 is unlikely to undergo major changes. The Indonesian version currently uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid system. The powertrain produces around 103 hp and 138 Nm of torque and is offered with either a manual or automatic transmission.
Suzuki appears focused on improving design, technology, and user experience rather than introducing a completely new powertrain.
What It Means for the Maruti XL6
For Indian customers, the teaser is particularly significant because the facelifted XL7 is expected to preview many of the upgrades planned for the Maruti Suzuki XL6. The current XL6 has started to face stronger competition from newer products such as the Kia Carens and other premium three-row family vehicles.
Industry observers expect the future XL6 facelift to inherit most of the styling revisions and feature additions seen on the Indonesian model. The Indian version is also likely to retain its 1.5-litre petrol engine while continuing to offer both petrol and CNG variants.
Launch Timeline
The facelifted Suzuki XL7 will make its global debut at GIIAS 2026 in Indonesia on July 29. While Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed a launch timeline for the updated XL6, reports suggest the Indian model could arrive sometime in late 2026 after the international debut of the XL7.
If the expected upgrades make it to India, the upcoming XL6 facelift could become one of the most feature-packed MPVs in its segment. With improved styling, modern technology, and additional convenience features, Maruti Suzuki may finally have a stronger answer to the increasingly competitive premium family car market.
